Comparing Review with Capture One and different GPUs
There is a Review in a german hardware-Review-Magazin:

The two fastest GPU-Cards:
1. AMD Radeon VII
2. Nvidia Titan RTX
More Cards can be found.

I have a fairly fast computer (Dual core Xeon with 20 cores and 128 mb of ram) and the Nvida GTX1080 ti and I can say that the fast video card doesn't help in CO12. I think that the Open CL function is broken in CO12. I had an AMD 7950 prior to the 1080 ti and I see ZERO improvement is speed or output with the Nvidia card.Personally I bought the card to speed up the rendering and export functions in CO12 and neither has been improved with the addition of the Nvidia card. If you're hoping to see a marked improvement, you will be sorely upset.
On a bright note, playing games is a breeze with my current setup. I have every bell and whistle set to on and it works great for games. Sadly, that's not the main reason for my computer.
Hope this helps.

It is complicated. A faster GPU is just one link of the chain. If the CPU-memory-GPU data channel is slow, it will limit the overall performance. I had a Ryzen 5 1400 CPU with Radeon 580 GPU, now upgraded to Ryzen 7 1700 and Geforce GTX 1080 GPU, also upgraded tp a premium mother board. The jpg export time does not improve at all. When I checked the system usage, neither the CPU or the GPU are running 100% during export. I blame slow memory for holding everything back.
In addition, nVidia GPU and AMD GPU work differently. CaptureOne makes use of OpenCL, which is supported by both. But nVidia prefers its own proprietary CUDA, and treats OpenCL as second class citizen. So AMD GPUs generally perform better than nVidia counterparts. If you pick a AMD VEGA series GPU, you may notice significant performance upgrade.0 -
Ryzen is all about memory timing, not just the physical speed - if you want full power from your Ryzen grab some 3200MHz G.Skill FlareX. There's a reason AMD supply it to all their reviewers 😉 0 -
Thank you, that's interesting since I planned to build a new PC but found nothing about how the perfomance C1 is tied to which hardware component.
Quite strange though that they use fps as unit in their comparison. 40 RAWs per second? 😂0
