I would suggest you create a support case with the Capture One Support Team.

I had a similar problem. I kept all of my images in a single Capture One Catalog. (over 36000 images) In addition to slow opening and movement between tools, my system crashed whenever I attempted to remove a key word from the Catalog Keyword file. I engaged in a lengthy correspondence with Phase One and never really solved the problem. I even uninstalled and reinstalled 9.1. We decided that my Capture One catalog may be corrupted, although I verified the catalog twice. I am working on a iMac 27 5K with 32 gb ram and an 500 Gb SSD. I keep my catalogs on a thunderbolt external hard drive.

So… I exported my original images into five different catalogs. They all work very well. The Catalogs open quickly, I can move between tools easily and create and remove keywords without any problem. I suspect that there is a maximize size for an efficiently run catalog, although I have no idea what it is. I wish there was a way to easily move images between catalogs.

Hello. After I upgraded to 9.1 my system is showing me the "pizza wheel" all the time. It happens most often when I switch between the different "modes".. when I switch from library to color editor.. or other toolboxes. It happens when I switch from an album to another..

I had exactly the same with 9.0.1 -9.0.3 and it was getting more and more frustrating, but not anymore with 9.1.

C1 9.1 is fast and reliable ever since to me.

(45'000 images referenced on Thunderbolt DAS, C1 Catalog (170 GB) on internal SSD)

I'd also recommend you to open a support case with Capture One Support.
