workspace layout - dual screen

Latest daft question from a Lightroom escapee...

I'd like to set up my dual screen workspace so that the main screen acts almost as default but with tools left and browser right (I can see how to do that) BUT - I then want my second screen to be an empty space where I can drop and arrange floating tool panels to have all my tools available at once - is that possible? Either that or as I have it (tools left, rest of main screen as viewer, second screen as browser) but the second screen half browser half tool panels?

I suspect I may be getting carried away with all the lovely customisable aspects of C1 after LR didn't let me change a damn thing, so I guess I may be asking a bit much!

    Without knowing which is your main screen and which is your secondary...

    I've got several workspaces. My main is on the left and the secondary is to its right side as I face them. You can certainly do what you want, but you may need to experiment a bit. Examples of my saved workspaces:

    I like main tool palettes on the right side of the main monitor, thus dividing my monitors into 2 other spaces.

    For culling, I keep a grid browser to the left of my tools and a single image browser fills the right monitor. That way I can look at a lot of thumbnails on the left and a very large view of a selected image on the right.

    For editing, again my tools are on the right side of my main monitor, a single-row browser is set to auto-hide on the bottom, and the image fills the rest of the monitor. On the right monitor I display other palettes like Metadata, Keywords, Focus, and Navigator.

    I've also customized the main toolbar to include the Workspace command so I can easily change workspaces from the toolbar instead of needing to navigate menus all the time.

    I've also customized most of the tabs, and some tools are included in multiple tabs to accommodate my preferred workflow.

    You'll probably need to tweak your customized workspaces until you get it right for you. When you do, I'd suggest copying to your ~/Library/Application Support/Capture One folder somewhere as backup. That's where all of your custom presets and workspaces are saved.

    Thank you for that, it has been useful - I am up and running with two customised workspaces, one for culling and one for editing - would you be kind enough to just explain how I get the workspace command on the toolbar please, I am struggling with that bit

    It works like any other Mac application: right-click on the toolbar and select "Customize Toolbar", or look for the same item under the View menu.

    The only oddity is that C1 only supports icons; not text or text + icons.

    Known bug for awhile. Has yet to be fixed.
