Refresh proxies - what am I doing wrong?
I have just started on the (long) learning curve having upgraded from C1 3.7 to 5.1 and now to 5.1 PRO. I am enjoying the new features, but am having trouble with proxy regeneration.
The way I worked with 3.7 was after processing the files I would copy back the generated .JPG files into the original folder. The proxies would be regenerated the next time. However, with 5.1 this does not happen, and the .JPG files are displayed as they were before. I have tried deleting the proxy folder and thus forcing the proxies to be regenerated, but this fails, for example, with cropped pictures, where a strange picture gets generated - the 'new' JPEG but with a smaller, cropped version overlaid.
Worse still, any vertical pictures get into a total mess, rotated 90 degrees and stretched.
What is going wrong?
(ADDED LATER:)
I have found a solution, albeit highly convoluted! Deleting both the JPG files in the 'Cache\Proxies' folder and those in the Settings50 folder will cause the proxies to be regenerated correctly.
Is there not a simple solution to this though? Surely this should be done automatically!?

Michael,
If there are specific occurrences that cause the strange looking previews or files, create a support case so that we can determine the cause.
In regard to generating new Proxie files, if this is absolutely necessary, the best way to do it is to;
Quit the software
Delete the Proxie (COP) files
Restart Capture One
The Proxie files will then be rebuilt correctly.0 -
I found that it was not enough to delete the proxy files for the JPEGs. It was also necessary to remove the JPG files from the Settings50 folder. This is awkward to do as one has to be careful not to lose the CR2 files as well in the process or else all the carefully crafted adjustments made to the raws will get lost ...
Could my problems be connected with having the files on a network server?0 -
Michael,
I think you should start a support case for clarification. As there are no JPEG files in the Settings50 folder, it is unclear what exactly you are moving.0 -
I didn't mean actual JPEG files, but if my original folder has for example two files, BG2_6121.CR2 and BG2-6121.JPG, the Settings50 folder will have BG2_6121.CR2.cos and BG2-6121.JPG.cos in it. It is the .JPG.cos files which need to be deleted for the cache to be regenerated correctly. 0 -
Thos "COS" files are you settings files, not the Proxie Files. As such, they do not need to be deleted to regenerate the Proxies. 0 -

Maybe not, but if they are not forced to be regenerated they will display incorrectly if the original .JPG files are replaced with the newly generated ones.0 -
Michael,
Again, please create a support case for further clarification on the circumstances at hand.0
