Creating Strides instead of walking with CO9
Since my mysterious post has vanished (thanks Jim for looking) Im re-writing this thread and hope it will help others in my skiff.
Die Hard Apple Fan Boy - Must have it. Apple turned their back on me with Aperture and I made the switch to LR after about 2 year of no updates. After about 7 days, I was flying, there were a lot of awesome stuff Adobe did to fill the gripes I (and others) had with LR. I know I know this has all been talked about. But yes, this is still mine and feel please chill out and say some "goosfrabas" over and over again.
I would say I am not intimidated by CO9 and have done well in it. Some issues with tethering and the default recipe going out to AdobeRGB, instead of shot RGB which was 1.5 stops darker when printed. (odd) Changed recipe and upped the stops and it printed normal.
My process is pretty streamlined where I can have a High School Senior Session 250 images for a 3-4 hour session and be done with editing in 4 hours from Cull to Export Multiple mediums.
So on to my process: (and yes I get LR is not CO9, but bear with me and let's find some solid ground)
1) Ingest
2) Cull out all soft/blinkers/misfire pointing at my shoes (1 star) then delete all 1 stars through smart albums
3) Cull finding all images I would show a client (4 stars)
4) Cull 5 stars. Images that will be edited and shown to client (5 stars) (usually around 130-160)
5) Adjust basics (WB, Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows) I've even create some presets to cover amounts I use (Exposure -2, -1, -0.5, -0.25 & +.25, +0.5, +1, +2 (it's nice to just go down my list and click and then if I see somethings off I go to adjust my sliders.
6) Heal Brush - Get rid of acne or upon request permeant scars -( Ever since LR included it, I have stayed out of PS for the most 99% (minus a little image altering necessary images.)
7) Soft Skin - In Develop mode I have made some bushes to allow me to work faster. Skin Softening from 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, 50. Guys 20% (just the sharpness slider)

4 hours (timed multiple times) with stopping to watch netflix, people walking buy, messaging, or a quick scorn of why that chic is smoking so close to me, for about 160 images.
I've shot around 4 headshots session tethered and love it, clients love the instant self awareness feedback - I end up wth about 140 images and I start to edit and it seems one image is taking me 15mins. Especially my Steps 6-8 ( healing brush (which is so weird in CO9, no where acts like PS and LR), Skin softening can't figure out brushing that in and then erasing the areas, I dont want.
It seems there are two tools that need to be selected for everything. I.E. If I want to use the crop tool - I select crop icon in the right tools panel, but doesnt crop unless I hit the crop icon in the top panel above the image, same goes for brush tool as well.
Make a crop and you can't just hit enter, you have to drag you mouse up and select another tool (pointer) just to get it to change.
Anyone else migrate who workflow is similar to what I shoot (Seniors, headshots, real estate, food etc) Time=Money and I need to make more money and that means less time in front editing. thanks ya'll!

When you have applied a crop, you can't hit Enter, but you can hit (say) H which takes you back to the pan (hand) tool, or V for the select (pointer) tool, or indeed the shortcut key for any of the other tools. The way it works in C1 is that when you are in the crop tool you see the whole original image with the crop (if any) superimposed, so that you can adjust the crop some more if you want to. But when you go back to another tool you see only the cropped version. (The crop, like any other adjustment in C1 is non-destructive, so the whole original raw file is still there, and you can have second thoughts about it.) So you can do it with a single key press without needing to mouse to an icon in the tool bar, but Enter is not that key.

Good to know about the the crop - looks like 9 overhauled the cropping feature. I haven't played with it yet. Cant wait to see other comments to help me moved forward with finding my momentum, cause I have 2 headshots, in which around 250 images I want to touch up completely, but also dont want to take them into LR, which would only take me about 1.5 hours each session! aaaah! 0 -
As far as I can see the crop tool in V9, from a GUI point if view, is the same as V8.
However there are often things that remain to be discovered in C1 - especially for those (unlike me) who have a good memory for Keyboard Shortcuts!
