CaptureOne 8 & Metadata Keywords & commas
One of my biggest clients have a very heavy metadata workflow. They will provide me with things like this :
"metal, entertaining, drink, coolers, double, jigger, arrow, cocktail, picks, anchor, bottle, opener, "
and they want me to add this words to a specific picture containing those products. Each image we shoot will have different metadata.
In Capture One 7 I would copy paste this words into the "Keywords" field and the commas would separate each word into different lines. Then I would upload the images to a server and my client could find each picture by searching the names of the products.
In CaptureOne 8 , for some reason I can not use "commas" . Aren't commas necessary to separate different searchable words in metadata? Is there a reason why commas are not part of the metadata in CaptureOne 8?
Thanks

Hello, I just thought that I would bring this back to the top in the hope that someone from Phase 1 will reply.
I'm also having problems with keywords, and I asked for some help from Support earlier in the month - their reply was that an update to Capture One 8 was coming later in the month (it has since arrived!) and that I should hold on to see if this fixed my problem, but unfortunately it hasn't.
In order to add Keywords to an image, I now have to enter one word at a time, hit enter, then click the + button and enter another keyword, and constantly repeat this move. Coma separation no longer works and this becomes a lengthy process when you have to add 10 keywords or more. Also the software no longer recognises Keywords already previously entered, either from Version 7 or from recent additions in Version 8. Keywords worked perfectly for me in version 7 - I was running Mavericks then right enough and I have now moved to Yosemite (I had no choice since I purchased the 27' retina iMac).
If someone else can advise if they are having problems entering keywords I will be grateful, or if someone can definitely confirm that this is a known issue with Yosemite then I will be more confident that a fix may be forthcoming. Regardless, I will raise this issue again with Support once the holidays are over.
Merry Xmas everyone!0 -
Hi!
Not the P1 team, but a user reply. 😄
Just tried it and entered comma separated keywords. Hitting return, CO 8.1 Pro puts each keyword into a separate keyword field, in alphabetical order, on my machines. Copy-paste with comma separated lists works correctly and without duplicates, too. Searching keywords does not accept comma separated lists. Don't have keywords from CO 7 to check with.
MacBook Pro 5,2 and 11,3, Yosemite 10.10.1, CO 8.1 Pro.

Thanks for the reply Hans...just as I feared, it looks like it may be a problem only for me. Oh well, I'll get in touch with the tech support team once the holidays are over and see if they can help.
Have a great xmas!0 -
There are 2 places(methods) to enter keyword:
1. The “+†button. This method does not accept 2 character, i.e. “,†& “|â€.
It only allow single keyword, useful for adding new keyword into an existing keyword hierarchy, i.e. If a keyword was selected, new keyword will be added under the selected keyword.
2. The field with the text “Enter Keywords…â€. This field accept all characters.
The downside is that, when click on this field, the cursor does not appear to replaced the text. The only visible different is to look at the Trash Can, it dimmed down when click on this field. 🙄
So, to enter keywordS, use the “Enter Keywords…†field.

hi, I cannot help you with your question, as I don't like keyboarding using C1, instead I use Photo Mechanic 5 to do that. As a former Aperture user I was use to have a better DAM and cataloging system, sometimes not as strong as Lightroom when keyboarding, however way better than C1. Why don't you try it, it is easy and simple, as long as you synch the XMP readings and savings, then your are done.
Note, even I complain about the DAM capabilities of C1, I find it better than any other software out there for converting and processing.
Cheers,

Right, I used the 'Keywords' field, not a keyword field added with '+'. I wasn't aware that they behave differently.
The missing cursor is a bit annoying, but I hope for a fix in one of the next updates.
