Did you try setting a Session Favorite to point to the system folder you want quick/direct access to?

    Hi,
That won't work, as the target folder will keep changing, and in any case I still have to mouse click to choose a session favourite, unless I'm missing something.
    Thanks

More likely, I am the one missing something and failing to understand what you want.

I do not know how to select a folder I want among changing target folders without human intervention. Not in C1, nor in other applications that I can think of. At least not without known predefined rules and a rule-engine to execute them (backup software comes to mind). I thought of playing tricks with the Capture folder, but I don't think that would pay off.

Multiple Session Favorite folders, one per target folder, works as one-click shortcut for me, but I guess we have quite different Session setups and needs.

    Hi,
Let me explain the problem. My external software knows exactly which folder it wants to open. With my DAM software, for example, it can create a command line with the folder name as a parameter, run it and the software opens in the right place.

With some other software, I can send keystrokes to something like the File/Open Folder... command, first to open the dialog, then to send the folder name, then to click OK. Job done, and no mouse interaction required.

With C1, I can have it open in session mode, but I have to start clicking with a mouse to navigate through the library options. Even with session favourites, I still have to click with a mouse. That's almost impossible to automate.

I'm trying to find the equivalent of clicking through the library tab to a known folder (which will not necessarily have a favourite set), but without using the mouse. Keystrokes are fine - I can automate them.

    Does that make sense?
    Thanks

Pick one of the files in the folder and use the Windows "Open with" option to open with C1?

Presumably you could script that part with Windows facilities.

To do more may be possible with Applescript on a Mac but you would need to ask a Mac expert and it may not suit your purpose anyway.

I don't know to what extent C1 can be controlled remotely. You posted in the Windows forum and I guess you are looking for a solution for Windows (Mac may be different). AutoHotkey is my goto utility for keyboard/mouse automation (and more). You may want to take a look at it (https://www.autohotkey.com/ ) if you have not already ruled it out.

    Hi,
That's not the issue. I can already control any Windows program with my own software as long as the command I require is accessible via keystrokes. For example, because Phase One have consistently refused to support hotkeys for user styles I have implemented my own and they work fine, but that does rely on them being accessible via one of the main menus.

I am asking a different question. Is there any way to get C1 to move to a different folder other than clicking in the Library tool with a mouse?
    That's the question.
    Thanks
    Andrew
