Before I download and install, this is free software. After I install, this is a 30 day trial. Which is it? Is this Express for SONY version free or not???

  Express (for Sony) is free.
  
  The 30 day trial is for the Pro and Pro (for Sony) editions.

  Then why did I receive an email from Phase One that began "Thank you for downloading the free 30-day trial of Capture One Express 9 (for Sony)."? Either it is free or it is only a 30-day trial. That sentence is as clear as mud.

  Nevermind. Version 9 is just as quirky and useless as Version 8. It is off my system and won't be back.
