The Mac Pro is great with C1. You won't regret it!

You mentioned limited space. If you do have room, however, you might really enjoy having your present monitor plus the iMac. I am running a 17 inch MacBook Pro mid 2010 which is almost always closed in a stand, driving and old 23 inch Apple Cinema screen plus a 2015 Eizo 27 monitor. I really miss the "desk space" when I run just the laptop alone.
Good luck and have fun making your decision.

You'd probably should compare the two displays specs (you didn't specify yours) and first decide on that and less the on mac's itself. I use a Mac Pro (late 2013) together with a NEC 32" PA322UHD 4K display and that plays nicely together with C1 for years.

I keep my C1 library (200+ GB) on the internal Mac Pro SSD (1TB) and the images (50'000+ and mostly RAW) referenced on a Thunderbolt2 DAS attached Promise Pegasus2 drive. So where are you going to store your library and images and how big are they (meaning how much space you need). This will be your second important decision IMHO. Here disk size and speed will rule your experience (not just with C1).

Oh, and you could eventually wait until December when the announced iMac Pro will arrive and then your question might be easier answered.
