original file name token not working...
...I think...I've gone back and searched and found a reference here but it doesn't work for me...using 10.8.x with CO7... I want to keep the *original* jpeg or RAW file name out of my 5DIII while capturing tethered into CO however, I'm finding that the "name" token is the only (or closest) token that resembles 'original' but its not...it still renames it...if I leave the import field token blank, it results in "emptyname" as the file name... Is there anyway to keep orig file name while importing tethered?

What is in your definition the original file name when shooting tethered? 0 -

Tee name my camera gives the file.0 -
In tethered shooting the computer application (like Capture One) gives the file a name. I am talking 'real' tethered shooting compared to copying from memory card to computer like some other software does (like Lr).
As a result, you'll find the Next Capture Naming tool in Capture One. It is not renaming the file, but gives it a name in the first place.0 -
huh? I don't distinguish a 'real' tethering program from a non-real one...I simply want to maintain a portion of the original file name (eg last 4 digits) out of the camera so that I have the ability to refer back to the data on the card to match a file. Are you saying Capture One doesn't allow me to simply just keep the file but it forces me to rename it? Is that what makes CO 'real'? Sounds a bit inflexible to me...a LOT in flexible! 0 -
When shooting tethered with Capture One no single bit is saved to your card! Capture One transfers the file directly to your desktop/notebook and saves it there. Thats the reason why the original file name token can not work (the original file is saved with the naming template directly to the device).
When you say you want a possibility to refer back to the data on the card I guess you think something will be saved to your card, which is in fact not the case.
Kind regards,

Thank you Joerg- I did not realize that- my naivete. I assumed it did which prompted the question. In that case, it doesn't really matter that the original file name is retained. thanks 0
