Yes this is something we are well aware and will be addressed in a future release.

I have found a way of getting new images to rotate as I also shoot a lot of jobs with the camera shooting overhead, every time a new image comes in its really annoying to have to manually rotate. .
I played with some settings yesterday and "bingo" the images were coming in and auto rotating.. I'm sure this was using "styles"..
I will have another look at this tomorrow and once I get it working I'll post a update.

It was certainly easier with version 3 and its a great shame something as basic as this was missed out of this build (and the previous versions of v4. )

Come on Phase get this fixed and v4 will be great !

OK here's my non scientific update.

This morning I rotated a new image with v4.8.1
I saved as a style and named it "rotate 90 counter-clockwise"
I then set "copy from last" under: next capture adjustments.. other
Under STYLES i then selected my saved style: "rotate 90 counter-clockwise"

It does work... its a bit long-winded.. but if you have a day of overhead shots ahead its a real time saving..
Its also possible to then make other changes to sharpness, col balance etc etc..
It then displays the saved style with "(adjusted)"

It is certainly a work around for now for something that should be as simple to apply as it was in v3

I just tried Andy's method and it does work with my Nikon D700. Thanks for that!

If you are using a Phase One back you can not lock rotation in back on P+ backs with firmware 4.7 and in software under the mini dropdown in the "Camera" tool with 4.8.2

The camera menu now has an Orientation submenu and so does the Camera tool menu

I am a pretty new CO user and have been using it extensively now shooting product for a dept store. I really like the software overall, and I am not easily pleased.

I was working overhead all day today and this issue drove me CRAZY! I am gonna try this STYLES work around fix, but the whole thing pisses me off. We use a combo of CO and the crap Canon EOS Utility to achieve live view because the CO live view doesn't work with our Canon cameras.

It seems both of these problems stem from the the assumption that you will be using a Leaf capture device to take your pictures.

To get you started, a few tips.

As being a new user you prabably work with the latest version. You'd better post in the CO6 forum for either Windows or Mac. This is a fairly old thread about CO4.

Next, your post does not reveal the nature of your rotation issue. For example, does the image come in right in EOS Utility but not in CO? And how is your camera orientated?
