UTF-8 character encoding for IPTC
I mentioned this in the \"feedback menu\", but since I received no response I thought maybe some developers would read it here.
As of now, if I am not wrong, IPTC data is encoded in \"Western (Mac Roman)\", making it only usable in Macs for non-english users. IPTC data is supposed to be an effective way of cross-platform meta-information, which, if I am right, then C1 fails to accomplish.
I think there should be a preference option to choose if one would prefer other encodings, so that sharing the files with third parties would be viable, like \"Unicode (UTF-8)\" for international users, such as chinese or japanese ones, or at least \"Western (ISO Latin 1)\" for european users if the other applications they use in whatever platform of their choice only supports this limited but more spread standard.
Mac Roman, though, would definitely not be my first choice.

Hello,
I'm facing an encoding problem with the IPTC information in C1 Pro.
In my workflow, I first use iView MP 3.1.2, to tag all my raw pictures (CR2) with the appropriate informations using IPTC tags. As I'm french, I frequently use special characters, as accent ("é"), and iView handles them very well, because the new version of the software use UTF-8 (unicode) encoding for the IPTC informations.
After that, I develop my raws using C1 Pro 3.7.4. And, here is the problem, when I access to my IPTC metadata using C1, all the special characters are turned into strange things, and the infos becomes unreadable.
It seems that C1 doesn't support UTF-8 encoding for the IPTC infos.
Do you plan to implement this key feature ?
Or, at least, do you plan to make the encoding charset choice available ?
Thanks.0
