Rendering
Anyone know if or when any progress on Media Pro not being able to use Phase One for rendering on some machines?
Right now I have to use WIC so my previews do not look the same as in CaptureOne. If I use Phase One rendering none of my CR2 files will produce previews. I had a support ticket on this and Phase One said they do not know why some machines have this issue and others don't. Hoping an update will come out soon.

Hi Rich,
I think I know the quandary you're experiencing. I also have to use WIC on my Win 7 x64 system, otherwise my TIF files won't render.
It I pick P1 as the rendering engine, I would see my RAWs as intended, but not TIF files. I received some weird importer error.
I also submitted a support case and hopefully when more users like us file report, P1 should have some data for work around the problem. It is frustrating (for me) because I upgraded to MP 1.0.1 to show my support and appreciation for the company. I got MediaExpression2 for free when it was first acquired by P1.
I have faith in the the company that they will make things right for their customers, after all we are their paycheck, right?0 -
What RAW files are you using? I can get tif and PSD's to show with PhaseOne's rendering engine although I had to manually update hundreds of them one by one with both WIC and PhaseOne. It's my Canon CR2 raw files that will not show with PhaseOne set as the rendering. I've installed the Canon and Adobe codecs (dng).
I had this problem during the trial period but purchased the program anyway based on my confidence in the company. They are well aware of the problem but it must be proving more difficult to sort out than they anticipated.
Also using WIN 7 64.
It would be nice to know if they are getting close or not. Anyone from PhaseOne there?0 -
Hiya Rich,
On my computer, If I have P1 as the rendering engine, I could see my RAW (CR2s from 30D, 7D & NEF from D40X) files without any problems. The preview is from the corrections I have made in C1PRO 6.3 x64. My layered, 16-BIT TIFFs are a no go.
What's weird (which I've documented with screen capture and sent to P1) was that if I change to WIC, everything goes well, but I can't see the edits I've made in C1PRO—which defeats the purpose because I want C1PRO 6.3 and MP 1.0.1 to be synced and in union—hence I bought both. To be honest, I should have been more prudent with the upgrade to MP 1.0.1. My current situation with the paid upgrade is the same when I was using the free and fully-featured MediaExpression2. How is that for an additional inconvenience?
Alas, I have faith and confidence in P1, I've been using their C1PRO since 3.7.8 PRO. We shall see.0 -
If I hit Control B while having a 16 bit TIFF selected it will build a preview. I guess we just have to wait.

I too am waiting on phase one to find a resolution to this problem,I file a support case but nothing yet, I posted a couple months ago on this forum that my cr2 files will not render in media pro, thru a bit of reverse engineering I found that adjustments that I had made to the levels in capture one pro prevent those images from rendering in media pro.I notice that some cr2 files would render and others would not so I went back into c1 and reset each adjustment, then after each new adjustment I went back to media pro and sync. image, all the images rendered fine until I made an adjustment to the level control slider then the image would no longer render in media pro. I took a screen shot of this and sent to phase one, they said the problem should be corrected in the new update[1.0.1],not only was the problem not solve it got worse because my tiff files will not render in full resolution using the phaseone engine and if I attempt to sync I get a error message, the tiff files will render only in wic. I have uninstall version 1.0.1 and reinstalled 1.00 as I would rather deal with the devil I know until phase one fix problem. 0 -
I had a similar problem with the initial release of Media Pro on my apple computer. I was able to trace it back to the XMP files. For some reason they got corrupted in the process of using C1 and Media Pro. The problem was that two lines were added to the xmp file making it useless. After the update all is working fine for me concerning rendering.

I bought Media Pro even though I knew it had bugs. Figured Phase One would get it straightened out. Now I'm beginning to have buyers remorse. I've always preferred C1 over Camera Raw but think I may switch to Lightroom and just kiss my $200 goodbuy. C1 has become quite buggy also. 0 -
I'm quite happy with C1 it isn't buggy for me at the moment. Media Pro is something different they've bought expression media from Microsoft. I think the "bugs" has a lot todo with integration, and Microsoft. And yes I had high expectations when P1 bought the program, for alas it will take some time to get things on the rails. Changing over a workflow from C1 to Lightroom isn't the easiest and cheapest thing to do.
