Unreadable Raw Files
C1 no longer recognizes some raw files from one of my shoots. The job had been processed and completed, files given to client and after backing up on an external hard drive, erased from my system. I am now trying to access them again and although the physical data is all there, when I load them into C1 the preview is blank and in the top left of each preview shape it has \"TIFF\" instead of \"RAW\". Bizarrely, out of the 50 or so frames in each different shot, 2 or 3 frames come up as \"RAW\" and the rest \"TIFF\".
I have tried changing the tag in \"Finder\" ie: selecting all the files, pressing \"apple+i\" and changing them to open with C1 pro. I also tried using an older version of C1 pro (3.6.3) I currently use 3.7.3. I understand that these raw \"tiffs\" have a unique signature and somehow that signature is no longer present for C1 will read them.
Does any one have a way of getting C1 to read the files without me having to go to an data recovery expert who will re attach the signature?

It was shot on an H1 and P25 tethered to a G5. On further investigation, the offending hard drive was formatted as ms-dos and discussions here have talked about \"resourse forks\" being deleted when copying form mac to pc drive. I don't understand why I can see a few files out of the all the files per shot?
What is ACR?0 -
OK.
ACR = Adobe Camera Raw, but if it's PhaseOne RAW-files there is no use trying ACR as it doesn't support that format.

Recently I had a similar problem although with older files. Make sure that the (raw) file-extension is .tif
Hope it helps

Alistair,
Some External Hard Drives come out of the box ready to go while other must be formatted.
MS-DOS format has created problems for Mac users.
The Format of the Ex HD is important with OS Extended being the preferred.( OS Extended with Journals is default but there are some concerns with the Journaling )
It is also suggested to have setting of Ignore Permissions and to shutdown Capture One BEFORE disconnecting the Ex HD.

Please let us know how this goes for you.

.....also make sure you are using Capture One PRO or DB.
If you have for some reason LE installed it will read Phase One RAW files as TIFF.0 -
Thanks UlfLiljegren, That hex editor fixed the problem prefectly. 0
