You may want to consider using an overlay ( a target positioning pro-forma) rather than guidelines for your purpose.

However I'm not sure that your approach to what you are trying to do is the best way available.

That said what you are trying to do, if I understand it correctly, is not something I have experienced personally.

I ended up exporting to Photoshop, getting the crop I want there, then importing back to C1.

So you're not working on a RAW file?

I can't seem to figure out how to create a grid that remains fixed on top of my image. I want to crop the edges equally on both sides to my created guidelines but they always move when I try to crop.

Hi, not totally sure what you're trying to do. However, there is a setting how long and if the grid should show when cropping.

Then, when cropping, after you've selected the crop size you want (dragging of the square or rectangle), you then release the mouse button. Then you can click and drag the crop area to get the part of the image you like. So, if you want your crop area to come from the middle of the frame, you just drag it there.

No real need for a crop to round trip to any pixel editor IMHO.

I can see the attraction of a crop option that shrinks the the image equally from all sides, I suppose.
