Issues on Windows 7
I have found a couple of rather serious issues with CO 10 Pro on Windows 7.
1) CO will freeze the Windows UI if left unattended for a couple of minutes.
2) Even if the application is closed, the Capture One executable NEVER STOPS RUNNING. The CO UI goes away, but Task manager reports that Capture One continues to run, eventually freezing the Windows UI.
I installed the application today, upgrading from CO 9 Pro, and have had to power cycle my PC four times in the course of a couple of hours. The last time, it caused an issue during a Windows Update.
Seriously, guys, this sucks. I am going to roll back, and likely ask for a refund for this upgrade. I simply cannot have this on my system, it's that bad.

I'm running C1 10.02 Pro (for Sony) on win7 64. I don't experience any of the problems you've encountered.
I did have problems when I first upgraded from v10 to v 10.02. C1 would hang when one opened Google's Chrome browser. The problem was corrected with the most recent upgrade of the Chrome browser.
I suggest as a start you make sure your OS is fully updated, that you're running the latest graphics drivers, and that you've updated C1 to v. 10.02.

It's usually Firefox that ends up freezing my Win 7 UI every few days.
As for C1 V10 - you don't say whether you are using Session, Catalogues or both but there are some thing, like catalogue backup settings perhaps?, that might induce C1 to continue processing in the background to tidy up after you have decided to close your interactive activity.
Usually that would mean the process existing for a few seconds although with a major conversion possibility for images and regeneration of previews when moving from 9 to 10 it's just possible that things could take longer.
If the process hangs and never goes away (which process BTW - CaptureOne or CaptureProcess?) and does not seem to be doing any processing then there is clearly something not quite right.
I would go along with Graham's advice with regard to drivers - especially any graphics card drivers assuming you have the option for "Hardware Acceleration" set to "Auto". The drivers for GPU cards appear to be quite "sensitive" from time to time. A quick pre-test would be to change Auto to Off to see if it makes any difference to your hanging experience.
