Just run the Aperture Importer (File>Import Catalog). If your Aperture library is big, make sure to separate it first into smaller packages (libraries) and import them one by one. There have been many reports by users (me included) where the Importer messed up if it was running too long.[quote="AlvinH" wrote:

I don't remember exactly how it worked, but as far as I rememeber C1 leaves the images where they are, be it either inside the Aperture library or in your own folders. When the import is finished, you can choose to move the images inside the C1 catalog (same as "managed" in Aperture) by simply dragging and dropping.[quote="AlvinH" wrote:

Yes.[quote="AlvinH" wrote:

As long as Aperture works, I would never ever delete its library. You don't save so much space (since your originals usually should only be saved once somewhere and not twice), so whats to gain from deleting it?0 -
Thank you for your kind reply,
yes i successfully import my aperture photo to C1 but it only reference, and i just figure that i must move the file inside the C1, and it "move" not copy. it's OK i'll backup the aperture library manually.
And my plan is: i'll delete aperture , and just keep library on my backup NAS, and delete all my aperture library on my imac. everything looks great right now, even the UI is very different with aperture, almost buy C1 right now... just wish they have a discount... 😊
thank you again
best regards

1. I think you figured out this question. The C1 Catalog created is a referenced type. All the images still reside in your Aperture catalog. The Catalog is just a database file containing attributes, edits, and similar things like that.
2. You have to select the images in the browser view and drag the selection to the Folders->Catalog item. This item is located at the very bottom of the Library tab view. This move the files to your C1 Catalog and your Aperture library file will become very small.
3. Sure.
4. I created a copy of my Aperture libraries and imported those into C1. That copy was destroyed as I moved all my images to C1. I am still keeping Aperture and the original libraries.0 -

Hi Alvin,
If you like a quick introduction to the Capture One 8 Library, import functions, moving images from managed to referenced and back, you might read through my blogs on http://imagealchemist.net/tag/catalog/
It goes from the basics to the deeper dirty details.
You might also find some discount there. 😉0 -
