Hi. The best you can do is to email us using the crash reporter. Through this we get all the needed information.

Through support you can also submit specific images, helping us solve the problem.

I've now had six crashes in half as many hours.

Now reverted to 6.0.0.0.Oooh for a reliable bit of software...

If you could tell what exactly you do when these crashes happen? (changing adjustments, capturing, etc...)
And do you have OpenCL turned ON/Auto?

    Hi
    Open CL is Active.

I've been editing and correcting images in a folder on the Mac's hard drive. It's pretty random. Rating images, coreecting tone and colour, movign between images (rpeview rendering?). None of the crashes seem to be triggerd by processing files or building borwsers. So I don't recognise any pattern in the crash/function.

Id rather not turn off CL as it's supposed to help the app work faster. Which is why I spent so much on the Mac! Turning off Open CL is like fitting a catalytic converter to a fighter jet: kind of point defeating.

So I'd rather you test the program and then issue a fix with Open CL acitvated. Harsh perhaps, but we paid for V6, we shouldn't really be beta testing it for you guys! 😉

It would be great to see if the system crashes still happen after you turn off OpenCL (just for testing purposes).

Don't worry, you're not 😊. This is likely something that we can find a definitive cause for, please create a support case and get us details so we can get to it the right way.

Case is already lodged with you. I've been advised to make a clean install. The link tells me to deactivate the software, but I guess i can miss that bit and just clean out the folders, right?

I'll do this first, but I'm still loathe to trun off Open CL

    Hmmm…
you should turn it off, it changed my life and now C1 is faster than ever with no crash and almost instant refresh of previews on a 30" monitor… 😊 (prefs set to 1600 pix for previews)

I hope it will solve your issue as it solved mine 😉

keep us updated if it works or not…
(PS after turning OpenCL off in the pref, you should restart C1)

For me, it crashed right when I tried to open it for the first time and then I was just clicking on thumbnails.
I was advised by tech support to turn off OpenCL. I didn't have any of these crashed with version 6.00. I would rather not have to turn off OpenCL, won't this affect the performance? I downgraded to 6.00 and no crashes. So, I am not sure what the OpenCL improvements are in v6.01 but they are not working for me.

It is not clear if you tried turning off OpenCL in 6.0.1 and if you did if that fixed the crashes...

Sorry, I did but I've been extensively testing and having reinstalled 6.0.1, turned off the OpenCL it seems to be working rather wonderfully now, and as Nicholas stated, the previews are much quicker, as is the processing (seemingly, although I need to check this with standard TIFF output as I've been running JPGs out for a book).

    All good it appears.

I've also lost all those garbled data issues too, [edit] apparently this is called "kernel panic", but having never been in the armed services I'd not know who this was, but I'm glad he's shipped out.

Thanks for your interest and help. I'll close the support ticket too

I didn't. I downgraded to 6.00. I don't want to sacrifice the performance. The 6.01 improvements are not big for me so I will stick with 6.00 and wait for 6.02 and see what happens.

Turn off OpenCL... performance might improve. Won't know till you give it a shot.
