What is file preview creation criteria?
Does MP not create previews for files that are equal or lesser pixel dimensions than the selected preview dimensions?
The reason I ask is... now that I've created previews for everything, things are backwards. Oddly, raws open instantly, but jpgs and tiffs of smaller dimension (usually 1200x800) than 1920 previews are laggy, 4 secs on this machine
After preview creation, raw full screen display went from 6-8 sec to 0 sec.
Guess I'm spoiled now. Options seem to be (1) force MP to create previews for all images regardless of size, (I assume that is impossible) so all images have previews living in the catalog (2) upgrade to faster hardware.
Does this sound right?

I cannot understand how this forum can be so dead. There is no software in existence that can match MP's cataloging ability. Being support cases are clearly a translation struggle, I would think users would flood here. How can there not be gads of MP users? Maybe Europe?
The more I dig into this software, the more amazed I am about its abilities. I've got it doing everything. In the month since I've really dug in to it, 15 years worth of images are now completely organized and categorized. To boot, the catalog and all images are perfectly synched over the network and to a laptop. Maybe time for a youtube vid of it in action.
Wonder if its only exceptional for certain users, like naturalist photographers, who need loads of categories like taxonomic hierarchies, locations, projects, etc.? Oh well, if it doesn't blow up in my face unexpectedly, I'm definitely going to create some clips showing it at work.0 -
Well Phase One shows just about as much enthusiasm in the development of the product.
I have Media Pro and concur, its amazing. However it has one problem that makes it useless to me.
NO COLOR MANAGEMENT.
If they fixed that, I could work around the rest.0 -
yes, Media Pro is absurdly good and well above the competition.... it's a pity this program doesn't get the attention it deserves from the devs.
But I was told there would be a new update on Mac before end of year.0 -

Did you find a solution for this issue?
We are aware of 'some' file-dependent issues, if you can see it is still clearly an issue with some specific files, please create a support case so we can have a look at it.0
