Ratings not synchronizing with xmp
Hello everyone!
While using Capture One 8.3, I just recognized a strange behaviour during applying star ratings & color labels on my nef-files: The changes are not longer synchronized to the associated xmp-file, not matter which preferences are set. E.g. star ratings, set in C1 always dissapear immediately after synchronising metadata. This behaviour is also independant of using catalogs/sessions or having the files on an external HD or on my MacBook Pro (late 2014, 10.4). With all other programs relying on xmp-files (e.g., graphic converter, mylio), the change and exchange is perfectly working. I have also trashed the C1 preferences files, but without success.
Has anybody else observed this issue as well? Any clues or workarounds?
Best regards and thanks a lot in advance,
Peter

Yep, today I discovered the same problem.
Photos I rated in Photo Mechanic get their rating written to the sidecar xmp file, but not synced anymore in C1 v8.3. When I click 'load metadata' it pops up with a window stating there is a conflict in metadata, and letting me choose to keep the C1 value or the value from the sidecar file (?). If I choose the latter, the rating just resets to 0 stars. Even if I picked another amount in PM.
Trashing the C1 prefs didn't help.
Further testing showed that when I trashed the xmp files, and let C1 generate them again, any given rating in C1 is not written in the new xmp file. If you do rate a photo, and choose 'load metadata' after that, the photo just resets to a rating of 0.
Strangely, when assigning colors in C1, they do show up in PM, and also automatically update in PM when I select another color in C1. But this does not work the other way around. Assigning a color in PM gets the color written down in the xmp file, but C1 does nothing with it.
Seems like a bug to me. Very annoying.0 -
Yes I'm having the same trouble. I posted about this a few days ago http://forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=19101&sid=a6d28f3e590d257fef6bcdb32b63996e but no solution as yet.
I haven't had time to do an extensive test, I had to go and process my files using ACR...0 -
For me, star ratings on IIQ files are not showing up after syncing metadata and they don't show up on a processed jpeg when i ask to include rating and color tag. I checked in both Photoshop and Photo Mechanic. As a digital tech, I can't use this version on jobs. 0 -

Agree with this, for me its impossible to use C1 without full metadata support.0 -

My initial tests of 8.3.1 indicate that this bug is fixed in this build. Star ratings are now being correctly written to the xmp tag for rating.

Its still not working if you have RAW+JPEG. 0 -

Can you be more specific about the raw+jpeg problem?
In my test I processed both tiff's and jpegs from raw files with star ratings in C1v8.3.1, the resulting files had the ratings properly encoded into the .xmp metadata. This was not the case in 8.3 so to me it looks fixed.0
