LCC generation faster with quad core i7 than with dual-core?
Using a tech cam, hence lots of LCCs. Will I see a significant performance gain when using a quad core i7 instead of a dual-core i7? My 'on the road machine' is a MBAir but I'm wondering if I could speed things up switching to a MPP Retina.
Thanks.

Most likely, you will gain in speed with a quad-core over a dual-core. Generating LCC is a complex computation, relying one the processor. You can see it yourself when you open Activity Monitor (Programs/Utilities folder). The Capture One process is utilizing the processor almost to the max (both cores on my dual-core Mac) during LCC creation.
If you use the wide-angle setting too the computation is more complex, hence more benefit from more cores.
I note that on a quad-core (i7) Windows 7 system the CPU utilization is not maxed out at all during LCC creation. This can be due to application and OS differences. Best to test this on a quad-core Mac before making a buying decision.0
