Separate browser window?
Is it possible to get the thumbnail browser window to detach? I want to run a dual monitor setup but I want to keep the viewer on the main window with the tools and have the thumbnail in a separate window on the 2nd monitor.

I don't have a windows machine, but if you look into Capture One's Window menu and then the Workspace sub menu, you should find two dual monitor workspaces. Selecting one of them should create two Capture One windows, one on each monitor. 0 -

That creates a separate VIEWER window. The tools remain with the browser. I want it switched the other way.0 -
What I have done is start with the dua; Monitor LArge Browser work space - the tools are in the same workspace as the browser. May have to set them to ON permanently in the view menu.
Then swap windows between main and second monitor. Although in Windows you may have more choices.0 -

Under Windows, we only have the "Dual monitor - Large Viewer" workspace, unfortunately.0 -

Newbie alert so I could have this wrong but if you're trying to do what I think you are the nearest I got was to choose "Dual monitor - Large Viewer Workspace" I then dragged the Browser/Tool windows (which I then customised the settings under the 'View' menu) to the Right hand monitor and have the viewer on the centre monitor. Capture one remembers the configuration each time I open it. This is my Windows Dual Monitor set up.

Hi,
This is also my current setup because there's no other solution. However, this workspace has some drawbacks :
- I always find myself trying to close C1 by closing the large viewer on the main screen. This just closes the viewer, though. If I then closes the main window on the secondary display, the viewer is not re-opened when relaunching C1.
- The large viewer toolbar is not identical to the main window toolbar. Even when excluding the icons that are not relevant when working on a full screen image on the main (center) screen, it is not possible to customize the large viewer toolbar to obtain the same tools as in the main window. So, it's almost mandatory to have both toolbars displayed.
I'd prefer to be able to show the maximized C1 main window on my main screen (with viewer and tools and menu and complete toolbar) and to have a detached, maximized browser window on the secondary display. Something similar to the Lightroom workspace. This is possible with the Mac version.
Are Windows users second class customers ?0 -
Back in Jan, I filed a request with Support to add more expansive Multi Monitor setups (dual and triple screen) along with mockups and a rough explanation of how it would need to be coded. The functionality is already built in, they would just need to expand certain properties to additional classes so they could be moved around within the interface.
The response I got was: "Thanks for your thought out and well-explained request. I will put this in front of the dev team for consideration."
One thing I have never understood about Capture One's UI/UX is that so much emphasis is put on the photo album preview section. Why, when enabling Dual Monitor Mode, does the album browser take priority of the main window? When editing photos, I spend more time looking at the image view and the individual tools than I ever do looking at the album preview pane. I’m glad its there, but there is no reason for it to be higher priority than the tools.
When you enable dual monitor support, and the main viewer class is put into its own window, the album preview dominates the original program window. This seems kinda silly to me. The whole point of Capture one is its editing abilities through its various tools. It seems counterproductive to make the tool pane the smallest viewing item area? Afterall, the whole point of Capture one is to edit photos, not be an image Browser.
Obviously I wont know whether anything comes of it until the next major release. Hopefully it will, because it would enable the workspace to be modular and users could organize tool panels, the browser, and the viewer as desired in various windows.0 -

I got the same answer 3 years ago. :--((0 -
Experiencing the exact same issue. Very frustrating because it seems like a super obvious feature. Every other tool can float. I just want to take the browser out of the main window and put it on another screen so I don't keep loosing priority of the image I am editing. When using the viewer as my main window I find it so odd that I have to use the control + Arrow keys to navigate and the Control + delete to delete things. as opposed to just deleting them. It's the little things. Having the browser available as a separate window would make the workflow way more natural.
The workaround would be to just edit the key commands I suppose. Still not quite the same though.0 -
I am surprised it isn't fixed. When i use default "dual monitor" workspace i loose all my custom settings on tools. I purchased Capture One because it allows easily to customize between different setups i need to use but didn't see this issue coming. It is a problem causing a lot of frustration.
