C1 4x on Mac Pro a must?

    I suggest you also mention OS X version and CO4 version when discussing to be or not to be on a G5. Another suggestion is to do a search. This topic is covered very regularly here (though less frequently as when CO 4.5 was released and the debate started).

    I was in the same "Y" road.
    I had an Ibook (and short of money after getting a PO back). So, I decided to get a macbook 2.4 2Gb ram (still intel based) with leopard. You can find a great deal on this black ones over the internet, as they are going out of market. The new ones are "aluminum" and they don´t have a firewire port (essential to tethered with phase one backs), but macbooks pro only.
    The macbook works fine for me

    It works OK on my quad G5. The previews do take a long time to load sometimes and apart from several missing V3 features it is usable.

    Good Point! Yes, I am using Leopard 10.5.6
