C1 4x on Mac Pro a must?
I was recently advised by Phase that I should move up to a Mac Pro since their currently developing any and all future releases of C1 via a Pentium processor make my my G5 obsolete. After a significant dollar amount in upgrades to my G5 I am somewhat reluctant to invest in a new desktop just to meet C1 requirements. So far my G5 seems to be handling the latest version of C1 with no issues. Has anyone experienced any issues using the latest C1 on non-Intel machines?

I suggest you also mention OS X version and CO4 version when discussing to be or not to be on a G5. Another suggestion is to do a search. This topic is covered very regularly here (though less frequently as when CO 4.5 was released and the debate started). 0 -
I was in the same "Y" road.
I had an Ibook (and short of money after getting a PO back). So, I decided to get a macbook 2.4 2Gb ram (still intel based) with leopard. You can find a great deal on this black ones over the internet, as they are going out of market. The new ones are "aluminum" and they don´t have a firewire port (essential to tethered with phase one backs), but macbooks pro only.
The macbook works fine for me0 -
It works OK on my quad G5. The previews do take a long time to load sometimes and apart from several missing V3 features it is usable. 0 -
