Output Image not sharp

Im finding the same and have been wondering if its to do with the fact that i look at the converted images more or less full screen but when using C1 i keep the image size quite small, there by making it look sharper.
Im probably wrong but cant think of anything else.

    Dave.

Ive just noticed that if in XP if i view the pic at full size, then change back to fit screen in Picture/fax viewer the image changes and shows up as sharper so maybe its a Win XP cache thing rather than C1.
Its still not sharp like in C1 but there is a difference if you dont apply
    sharpening
I also notice if you apply the sharpening and save for the screen res you are using (ie on mine its 1028 wide )then the above doesnt happen and i get sharper images

    Angelika,

The adjustments made at the Focus Tab will be applied only to that single image upon processing. If you never adjust the sliders at the Focus Tab, then the Default settings of the Preferences are applied to all images processed.
Curious what you are using to compare image. One of the best ways to analyze an image after 'development' is in Photoshop and bringing it up to 100%; and to be more critical, making sure the monitor is color calibrated and that this calibration is loaded in Capture One and in Photoshop / in Proof mode.
And the most critical evaluation is with printing output.

    Sincerely,

I have tried to analyze images in Photoshop several times, and my conclusion is clear: When prosessing JPEG or TIFF from C1Pro 3.7 you don't get what to think you will get when it comes to sharpeneing. One example: Just tried to prosess 2 version of a RAW file to JPEG (max qual), one without sharpening, and one with standard sharpening set to amount 400 and threshold 3. The latter looks very "over-sharpened" in C1, but in photoshop you can barely see any difference, and the image still needs sharpening. Unfortunately, noise has increased though......

I am wandering if this is all what Phase One is able to tell us about the problem that Angelica mentioned. I have the same problem. My raw pictures from Canon 1DsM2 looks very nice, but transformed to .jpg there is no sharpness at all. I am photographing only macro (Canon 100 mm). I did everything what the other's had mentioned. Can I understand this that Phase One is completely useless for macro photography?

I've been Unable to duplicate this with a variety of DSLR RAW files. Sharpening is always applied to output image from Process Tab.

What I can tell you is that there are no Support Cases regarding this issue with the exception of Sharpening not being applied to a QuickProof processed image. This is in Testing by Developers. So if any of you are creating QuickProofs rather than Processing, this may be the problem.

When using the Focus Tool it is best analyze the Focus View image and not the Preview image. The Preview does show sharpening adjustments, but is too low a resolution for making critical decisions, even at full screen. The Focus View actually processes that portion of the RAW for display and analyses.

Amount - how much contrast between pixels
Threshold - the higher the # the LESS that is sharpened in the image

When analyzing Sharpening effects only, do not adjust Color Noise suppression sliders since these can have an affect upon sharpening.

And if you are confident in your workflow as it pertains to Sharpening, and still believe there is a problem, then please go to web site > Support
    http://support.phaseone.com
and Create a Support Case with all details of the workflow, sharpening settings used, and what type of camera files, etc.

    Sincerely,
    k c
