Any Christmas promotions?

    Dear David,

I get your hints! No, we are not planning any LE Chrismas promotions. There has been three promotions in the Phase One E-shop this year. The iView/PRO bundle in April/May, 25% on iView for PRO owners in July and the current PRO ETC profile bundle Nov/Dec.

Based on your question I will be happy to explain Phase One's price policy even though this forum is for technical questions and discussions. Sales related questions should be directed to marketing@phaseone.dk.

Phase One believes that it is important to add value to our products especially our PRO product as it is our flagship. We have set a relatively high price 499,- (full product) and 199,- (updates) on PRO, because we believe PRO is worth the investment for the customer. Apart from the tools and quality customers get with PRO, they get 2 free major updates (i.e updates with new features and functionality as opposed to maintenance releases which are free of charge), and cross platform support. Another benefit of buying PRO is that Phase One will work with other software suppliers in order to offer bundles, discount on other professional tools etc.

Our LE customers are also very important to us. The reason why we do not do promotions on LE is due to the price level 99,- ((full product) and 29,- (for updates). We have chosen to keep the LE price low, and believe that our LE customers already get value for their money. LE is not an amatear tool. With LE you get amazing 'out-of-the-box' image quality in terms of sharpness, noise reduction and color accuracy, support for a wide range of semi-professional and professional DSLR cameras and efficient workflow tools. In addition, our license policy offers 2 computer activations plus 1 free major update.

Phase One is quite aware that price reductions will generate more sales. However, price reductions also frustrate existing customers who paid full price. The profit Phase One makes on PRO and LE sales is invested in R&D in order to make sure that our products are always, if not the best, then at least among the very best in the digital imaging industry.

    Therefore, our approach is:
    - To keep the price level
    - To add value to PRO (e.g. bundles, discount on 3rd party tools etc.)
    - Make sure that our customers are charged for updates if the update contains added value in terms of workflow, image quality or flexibility (if not the update is free).

Our products are also sold through resellers around the world and their price policy may differ from Phase One's. You can find our reseller list at www.phaseone.com.

    Best regards,
Trine Voss, VP Capture One Sales and Marketing
