APERTURE-WOW. what are the thought here? ;-)
This might get some people on the ball when it comes to request for a product.

Based on initial reports on image quality issues from Aperture customers, I think it is a very good thing CaptureOne will still be around....
I've spent a couple of days with Aperture and I'm still not sure about my final verdict. The application is very deep and complex and the RAW conversion is only a small part of the package. By comparison, Capture One (or ACR for that matter) is very lightweight. As for the results of RAW conversions, I need more tests. But I've noticed some weird artifacts in Aperture conversions, even with minimal manipulations (like EC, saturation, contrast etc..) on well exposed photos. I guess I will stay with Capture One / Photoshop.
[Edit]: I've now printed my photos (landscape) on a 20" wide printer and I cannot see the artifacts that I saw on my monitor. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to tell which version I prefer as both are very good. For the tests, I used PK Sharpener instead of the built-in sharpeners.0 -
I did a workshop on Aperture at the Applestore in NYC last month and bought the software at the end of it, despite working with it a lot on personal shoots, I have not developed confidence in it and am still using C1 pro and PS for my professional work still. I find it cumbersome and don't feel like I know where my files are being stored, I also find it difficult to use with my external drives. It is also slow even on my new fast Mac. The RAW conversions seem to have a strange appearance when enlarged as well. In my opinion Mac don't make a computer fast enough to run this software succesfully yet!
I am going to stick with it, maybe it will grow on me.0
