Go to Preferences, and the new Plugins section. There is a built-in plugin called Open With Menu. You can select checkboxes for the apps you would like to appear on the Open with and Edit with menus.

Like I said in my original message, there is all kind of other apps to choose from, but not Affinity Photo. There is even Winamp (what this has to do with image editing ??? ) but not Affinity Photo which is Photoshop equivalent program.
With CaptureOne 11 Pro I was able to edit with Affinity Photo, but not with CaptureOne 12 Pro.

I would guess that the list is looking at Windows file associations by file type.

What an application tries to claim an association with as it is installed may not always appear to be logical (e.g. Winamp) but there may be a reason.

Whether there are multiple lists that can be referred to I don't know. Does a program haveto declare that is is available as a plug-in?

As I recall I had to choose Affinity as an application to be used via Either Edit With or Open With and then browsing to the version of Affinity I wanted to use. It then appeared in the list in preferences.

That may not be exactly as things happened - I was not especially interested in the mechanism at the time - but certainly I can use Affinity if I wish to.

    HTH.

Can you navigate to Affinity Photo if you click the Browse... option in your first screenshot, and if you do does it then show up on the list (or in the plugin) after that?

    Ian,

Yes I can, but for some reason my basic edits I have made with C1 are not carried to Affinity Photo. If I open photo this way my photo opens in Affinity Photo Develop module, which is Affinity's "RAW converter". C1 is RAW converter and I have made my basic edits with it before I do some other editing with Affinity. Earlier with Capture One 11 Pro when I used this "Edit with" C1 opened dialog asking how I want to pass this photo to editor (like Affinity Photo) but now it does not do this. If I choose Edit with Photoshop (for example) it opens dialog.

This is how it worked for me too when I used Capture One 11 Pro For Sony. Now with Capture One 12 Pro it does not work.
I can open Edit with and then use browse to find Affinity photo, but if I open Affinity Photo this way my edits made to photo in C1 are not carried to Affinity Photo side. So it is not working like it should.

Well I can confirm that it does work for me with Affinity already in a list of "plug-ins" and exporting to a tif file. WIndows 7, C1 V12.

Of course that means Affinity is in the list of "approved" plug ins in my case and that may make a difference.

I realise that does not help you much other than offer some hope.

Are you using V12 Pro or V12 for Sony Pro?

I'm using V12 Pro (with Windows 7). I upgraded from V11 Pro For Sony. With V11 Pro for Sony this "Edit with" worked with Affinity Photo, but not anymore with V12 Pro, at least not for me.

I contacted PhaseOne support and they said that this is know bug...that Edit with does not work with Affinity Photo like it used to.

The only restriction I see is that I cannot "edit with" when choosing an image from a "smart album" or a couple of other reserved sources.

    I found it! Eureka!!!!

If you bought Photo form the Windows Store then it is installed under WindowsApp in "Program Files"....

Mine is in the following folder.

    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto_10703.481.0.0_x64__844sdzfcmm7k0\Program

PS ...but it still does not open even if I select the app. Problem is windows does not allow me to run program from that folder directly......

Winamp 5 has image viewing capabilities because of the web browser support (glad to see someone else using Winamp to listen to their music library 😊 )

    ok I found a workaround.

I can use "Edit with" -> "Pick an app"

Then a pop up opens and I select Affinity Photo
