My first guess is that you are seeing the CO8 lens correction and cropping come into effect. CO8 applies lens correction by default where others do not.

If you go to the lens tab, and look/play around in the "Lens Correction" section.

Forgetting the file size differences for a moment, which of the lens correction options, in your opinion, gives the best image quality results?

(Viewed at 100% and with the same edits applied to each. Edit one image, create a variant, change the Lens Correction setting and compare them side by side).

Owning a RX10 myself since 12/2013, shooting almost exclusively RAW and processing in C1Pro I'm a bit surprised by the original post because I've never noticed such a change in size. Even with the default lens corrections over the zoom range applied I've always noticed an output pixel size according to the camera's default. When entering the crop tool though the actual image size could be some pixels bigger. This effect (or processing) is much more noticeable on the RX100 (Mark I in my case) where the "recorded image" at the wide end is actually visibly bigger than the default crop/distortion corrected 28mm eq. FOV full size output. So one is able to extract an image of perhaps 26-27mm eq. FOV out of the data if needed.
