5.1.1 crashing and renaming RAW files???
Using C1 Pro 5.1.1 on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.5.8
Occasionally (but way to often) it seems to choke on some process and crash. I could live with that but somewhere along the line (I do not know at what point) a bizarre filename problem happens.
When I restart C1 Pro (it's usually goes back to the session from which it crashed) some of the captured RAW files will be renamed. I import my files with a "project name" and a 3 digit counter. eg todaysjob-079.CR2
They are all sequential when the crash occurs but when the software restarts, some filenames will have changes. eg. todaysjob-079 1.CR2 There is an extra space and the digit "1" added to the filename.
I will try to determine if the filenames have been changed BEFORE I restart C1 Pro the next time I have a crash but have not thought to do so until now.
I may have a couple of hundred captured RAW files in the session when this happens and as many as 10 or 20 will have this strange renaming happen. I vaguely sense a pattern and it MAY be that the renamed files have come from the last batch of imports although I definitely can't confirm this. (I am constantly doing fairly small imports throughout my workday - it's the nature of my work). For clarification, it is NOT during the actual import that I am having the crash; that part is working fine and the filenames are OK until a crash and subsequent restart.
There MAY be a pattern to the renaming also but I have yet to determine this also as I am to busy trying to resort/rename the files into their proper sequence.
It's important in my work that the sequence of the RAW files matches that of my output files so this is a major problem for me.
Anybody had any similar issues at all?

The extra "<space>1" suffix in the file name is common with CO5 when it creates a file with a name that already exists. The suffix is determining it a the second version ("<space>2" is the third version of a file). You can observe this when you process a file multiple times to the same folder.
The crash - for whatever reason - might lead to a status in which a file is renamed but the program has not yet update its counter for that number and renames it again after startup.
Re. the crash: prevent renaming while CO5 is still generating proxies. Might help.0 -
I'd be interested in seeing some specific examples. Screenshots and other details if you could provide them through a support case. 0 -
Last week I had exactly the same problem. C5 crashed after a new session had been started within the day's shoot folder created on the desktop. Re-booted it, opened the new session which was still there, shot the picture then while editing noticed it had used the filename/session name from the previous shot rather than the new one. Really annoying having to change 120 file names! 0 -
IJP,
We sure would be interested in a support case with some details in regard to your issue. The OP is the only case that we currently have under investigation and haven't gotten details in regard to the issue in nearly two months.
What we'd need is as follows, in a support case;
1) 1 or more crash reports from your Mac. Please copy/paste into a document and send to us. You can find info about how to locate the log's here. http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1
2) 1 or more files before and after the renaming
3) Please inform at what state capture One is after the crash. Is it still open in processes or is it terminated?
Also, since this was reported in 5.1.1, we'd like to ensure that your running 5.1.2 before digging into it.0
