Abbreviate sub folder tokens

I have created a template for importing images that uses tokens for month, day, and year. The resulting folder name looks like "MM.DD.YY location". The problem I have is that the tokens take up so much room in the folder name text box that I have to click in the box and then use the arrow key to scroll all the way to the right to get to the place where I can type in the location. Is there any way to abbreviate the collections of tokens to something shorter so I don't have to click-scroll each time? Can the token preset name be sued for this somehow that I haven't found yet?
