    gullevek,

If you remove the application Preferences it brings the software back to the installation state.
    With Program closed,
Remove the file called com.phaseone.application.captureonedslr.plist located at ~/Library/Preferences. ~ means your home folder. Restart Capture One.

won't that remove all my other settings I have done? Isn't there an easier way to fix that?

    gullevek,

If the Overlay Utility is NOT checked as Show and Window > Hide Overlay Utility will NOT make it go away, then I don't know of another way to make the program behave.

The best way to get it to do what it is supposed to is Trash the Preference file and let it rebuild anew. Of course an Uninstall and Clean Reinstall would do it too.
The result would be the same... it would revert to install defaults and whatever Preference setting changes you made and your Sessions will be gone.
Easy enough to reestablish Preferences and Add Sessions back at the Organize Tool by selecting the .session file for each job.

Let us know how it goes.
