Cannot read scanner NEF files
C1 V7 & V6 seems cannot import Nikon coolscan 9000ED's NEF file , is it a bug ? Or any else?

It is not a supported file format. Check the release notes for supported raw formats. 0 -
But Nef is Nikon's raw format , isn't it? 0 -

Yes, but each device creates a different type Nef. Hence, there are release notes to tell you which are supported. I know, it is confusing.0 -
Oh, I see . But PS CS5 can read this type NEF from scanning device. !!!!! ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ 0 -

But PS is first and foremost a Graphics Editing package that can also do things with photographs and have a go at interpreting RAW files from all sources whereas C1 is primarily intended to be a RAW converter to deal with output from cameras and digital backs. There is no reason for the two products to cover exactly the same range of requirements.0 -
I suppose NEFs are the same for Nikon cameras & Nikon scanners since they have same naming . If not the same, it is the problem of Nikon . 0 -

That would be a nice situation but I don't think it applies to any manufacturer and all cameras, even those from the same manufacturer and sharing the same sensors, seem to have some differences. Enough to make it safer to assume they should only be processed by software that has been checked with them for accurate results.
As I understand it even the 'universal' standards (as claimed) like DNG are not (and cannot be) as universal as people might wish.
Does the scanner allow you to create a TIFF file?

No it is not. A scanner is a linear CCD and you do not have a RAW format in this aspect since de-mosaic is not required.
Scanners normally scan direct to TIF format. There is no real reason to scan to a NEF or DNG for that mater except over complicating your workflow.0 -
Coolscan 9000ed allow to output as jpg, tiff & Nef .
I saved as Nef since I want to keep the scanned images as RAW & can converted it to Jpg or tiff which are suitable to my usage . Jpg for upload to Flickr for viewing & tiff for printing as a photo in color lab.
Before purchasing Capture one, I need scan my slides 2 times per slide & saves into jpg & tiff ; then keeping 2 formats .
I guessed that I shall no longer waste my scanning time & saving my harddisk space after C1 . I do not know that there are different between camera's Nef & scanner's Nef.0
