Transfering Catalogue

    Richard,
Since no one else has answered, I will attempt some suggestions.

Sync.com -- can you "link" a folder (and all its sub-folders) between the two machines? That should solve the problem whether you are using referenced catalog or managed catalog. You would then have identical contents on both machines. Obviously, you would NOT want to have C1 open on both machines simultaneously!

Because C1 can get weird with digital asset management, for me, in my opinion, it would be safer to to link your laptop catalog to a file/folder different than your main catalog on the desktop. That way, any screw ups will not wreck your main catalog on the desktop. Then you can import that lessor catalog (that is linked to the laptop) once you confirm it is in good shape after sync.com does its job transferring. But then you have to forego the "automatic" option.

The best way to work with Desktop and laptop on the road is - Use on Desktop Catalog and work on laptop with Sessions (without import images - only browsing directory structure!).

    Hi Richard,

I will try to describe my way to work with Laptop (session) and Desktop (Catalog)

I always import photos from camera with my own script (powershell - Windows, AppleScript Mac) and never with any Software like C1/ LR.....
All Photos are stored the first time on external drive (it can be internal drive too). C:\photos\. Then I can work with them incl. rating and colormarks and develop. User only browsing functionality from C1 never Import!
Now I'm at home and simple copy content from the C:\Photos folder from my Laptop to my Desktop and then use import or sync function from C1 catalog. C1 "see" subfolder "CaptureOne" and will considered content from them.

After this I delete content from C:\Photos on my laptop and create a new Session

Its simple but for me the best way to work on the road and at home office.

    Thank you Robert,
I'm in Manchester at the moment & will be home on Tuesday evening so I'll be able to try out what you suggested on Wednesday.

I'll get back to you shortly after to let you know how i got on.

    Robert,
I also contacted support about this and they suggested (as others did here) to use 'sessions', which I did.

On my return I was able to download all of the files (this was done automatically using Sync.com) and then import the sessions into my catalogue which imported all of the images together with any adjustments I had made to them.

Very pleased with the outcome so thank you all.
