EXIF Metadata

To start with the second question: no, CO8 does not allow you to modify EXIF.

For the missing EXIF, what file (raw, processed) and from what camera are you viewing? Is it converted or original?

    Dear Paul,

The images are coming from a LEICA M9 in dng format.
Since there is no data-exchange between lens used and the camera body, I write the lens data by to exif metadata by using an AppleScript. Example:
do shell script "exiftool -lens='ZEISS Planar T* 1:2/50 mm ZM' -lensserialnumber=123456789"
Then I import the data to COP.

That's the way how I did it with APPLE Aperture. There it worked fine. I was able to read out the lens metadata with the application.

    Christoph,

You might want to take a look at your Preferences/Image/Metadata settings.

    Cheers,

    Dear Paul,

Finally I found where to look in Capture Capture One Pro 8 to get the info about the lens used.
Tool Tab 'Metadata' > Vendor Specific > Lens

Unfortunately in my case the data shown does not reflect reality!
Even worse: When exporting the picture, the original correct exif-data of the lens are overwritten by Capture 1 with wrong data!

Please see the three screenshots at his link:

I have had a similar problem since CO7.
In Aperture and preview, my lens shows in the exif metadata correctly as "Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f/2 SLII Aspherical", yet in Capture One 7, it shows nothing and in Capture One 8 it shows only "40mm". And yes, when I export the image, the exif is saved as "40mm". A minor annoyance I hope they eventually fix. My Canon lens shows correctly, just not my Voigtlander.

    Hi Christoph,

I suggest you (and others with similar cases) to open a support case and update the images files with it. Support can get to the bottom of it and forward any potential issue to R&D for fixing.

beside of the simplified lens data (it replace my 85mm PC-E lens to 85mm only when export), I also found that keywords field was missing.

Hi Wilson, not sure I understand you correctly, but please not that there is now a separate Keywords tool. Keywords are not listed in the Metadata tool anymore.

    Hi all,

I think this is a general problem. I use both Sigma an Canon lenses. The type is shown correct (at least for thew canon), but the brand is not shown
