Reading images from camera

I have also tried to import when tethering, but I couldn't find a way to do it. Maybe I overlooked something and someone can help?

Unfortunately, the main import dialogue in Capture One can not read images via the USB MTP. If your camera has an option to make the USB connection work like a disk, then selecting that should solve the problem (I do not have a Nikon, but with Canon DSLRs there isn't an option for this).

An alternative work-around is to use Apple's "Image Capture.app" (from /Applications). If you open this and connect the camera, you can download the images, and subsequently import them to Capture One. You can set Image Capture to open automatically if a camera is connected. It is awkward, but it works...

The Photos app always opening is a pain, but if you check the UI when it launches because of the camera there should be an pop-up menu where you can tell it to never open again. I usually just delete Photos.app...

The answers are actually already given: connecting is for tethered shooting. Downloading from camera is not supported. On Mac the Image Capture app is the easiest way to go or use a card reader.

Thanks for the reply, this is what I feared it would be. In my opinion this is a shortcoming to the usability of this application. So I'll go and get a card reader then.... 😊
