Repair layer experiences
The repair layer tutorial gives a very simple example how the healing layer can be used, but as a more real life example I tried to remove the dark eye rings from a persons face.
1. I draw the mask and try to position the source point at an appropriate place. As only one source can be set it has to be as large as the mask otherwise some unwanted texture comes into the destination area. Especially if two or more areas should be healed you quickly need more layers.
2. First I thought that the source area has to have the desired color but then I found that's not true. A dark grey area without any texture gave the same result in cleaning up the eye rings as a similar colored part of the neck. In contrast, a white area give a unusable greenish result. Some hints how it really works would be fine.
3. A heal or clone layer can not be altered with local adjustments, they are all disabled. Why is that? To make adjustments another layer is necessary to which the original mask is copied. But with 10 layers at max you quickly run out of them, specially with the limited source area reuse in one layer. Maybe rise the limit?
As a result after some hassle result is good enough and will spare me some time in a pixel editor.
Maybe Phase One could provide a more advanced video tutorial for this new feature.

Hi!
2) The greenish tint in clipped highlights is a known bug, and we will be fixing that in a future service release.
3) We always try to optimize Capture One. I would suggest you contact our support, so they can log your feature-requests. Here's the link: http://www.phaseone.com/SupportMain.aspx0 -
I have a weird problem, seems if i use a clone or heal layer i get a box that cuts into the area i've brushed 😕

I haven't experienced this yet, but I get a similar edge if the source are of healing is too near the edges or corner of the image. I raised a support case how to deal with this.

Please turn off Hardware Acceleration for Display/Process in Preferences.0 -
i have.. and it still has the same problem... and i also exported the file (thinking it was possibly a video card issue), but it also shows the area isn't healed 😕 0 -
Create a support case.
The error indeed seems related to a lack of resources. OpenCL may be Off in the Preferences but it certainly doesn't seem to be behaving that way. We'll have a closer look.0 -
Yeah I've done that, haven't had a confirmation email however, I guess you guys are busy fixing broken stuff.. 0 -

In reviewing another case, I do indeed think that the issue is due to OpenCL as it was in the other users case. The only miscommunication is that, after OpenCL is turned off or disabled, the Mask needs to be redrawn and all should be well.0 -
Ok, I turned off OCL and deleted the layer, made a new heal layer and still the same
i've also deleted, restarted C1, made a fresh layer and again no difference, same area is effected..
I'm using a XFX R9 270 with latest drivers from AMD and windows 7 x640 -
I've had a go at recreating this problem as part of my familiarisation with the new layers functionality.
No issues here but it may be worth saying that I can't be sure I am trying to repeat your exact process and that the GPU on my notebook is, so far as I know, bypassed for C1 purposes due to lack of performance gain.
Your "square" is sort of reminiscent of the way Graphical processing on slower machines presents the way that deal with processing the screen writeback in sections so that would seem to be a good place to start investigating.

yeah my machine is no slouch at 4.5GHz and 16GB RAM to throw stuff around in 😊 0 -

With OpenCL turned off you may see a difference. Even with it on there might be more of a driver issue for the GPU than a lack of outright performance.
I have heard of situations where the pure speed of a system, multithreading, seems to get to a point where a process is concluded before the last thread or two have completed and written their results to memory. That's not something I recall experiencing myself.

its odd, because with the zoom set "to fit" the image looks fine, its once you start zooming the area apears 😕 0 -
Went back to looking at the file again - I figured it out! 😄
It's if a spot removal area intersects!

Should have had me on the beta program guys 😉0 -

Nah, you failed the selection test. Should have predicted that the layers may be interfering with each other when you saw the problem! 😂
Actually I suppose the test plan should include all file types at all resolution levels on all hardware configurations with all possible adjustments applied over each other. 🤓
Product testing should be complete by 2020 - with luck.

YAY! thanks guys! fixed in V8.0.1 😄 0
