Colour shift when increasing contrast
After using C1 for one year, I'm increasingly bothered by this problem:
If I increase the contrast (either directly or by choosing the High Contrast
preset), the hue of the colours in the picture changes. This is most visibily
in the sky in some pictures, which starts as natural sky blue and becomes almost
cyan in the process.
I tried ACR ( the version which is include in Photoshop Elements) and it does
not have the problem. Further investigation lead to the following analysis:
C1 seems to apply the contrast curve to each RGB channel individually,
resulting in colour shifts, whereas ACR just changes the luminosity of
the pixels, leaving the hue intact.
I have now gone back and rendered a few of my favourites with ACR, and the
results were much nicer than with C1 (especially the skies).
Now, do I do something wrong or is that a legitimate problem? I would really
prefer to stay with C1, because of the better workflow.
Btw I also tried RSE and it shows the same behaviour ...
Thanks,
Oliver

Yup I noticed that too...it causes problems when the color shifts plus the free camera profile is already too saturated. 💡 0
