I agree. It was very handy in 3.7.x to write captions directly in Capture One and it saved a lot of time.
Next downgrade is the symbol for developed files wich is gone too, the little yellow one's.

    IPTC, COME BACK!!!

Think you guys have answered my question, unless I am missing something, how do I save an IPTC template and how do I batch caption to all of my files?

1, Agreed we should implement more IPTC data fields, however currently you can add captions and copyright data in the Metadata tab. Just double click in the space next to "Caption." You can also apply entered data to all images like you would any other adjustment.

    2. The Developed symbol is there... it is now a light grey cog the appears the the top center on the thumbnail. It is orange while the file is in the queue.

The loss, in v 4, of the ability to edit complete IPTC text files in C1 Pro and not being able to rename images in situ after import to merge multiple camera output by time is the final straw for me.

If I have got to put a an extra application on the front of my workflow I will but I will then switch to Canon DPP which has comprehensive lens adjustment from a lens database and supports latest Canon cameras as they are launched. The last benefts of using C1 Pro have disappeared. Don't know which MF back I would buy now but it isn't Phaseone.

The grey color is total useless, i would like the yellow dot OUTSIDE the picture or at least som colr with a 50% transparent background

Just to clarify then I can't use a template like the one in C1..3?

    Thanks Jon

I would have found it eventually (if I was bothering to use it) but it was not the manual - one of the first things I looked for. What other hidden gems areout there - is full IPTC text support (as per 3.7) available?

Could we have a manual that actually covers what's in the application please

    OK Jon,

On batch rename how do I get rid of the space between jobname and counter? That is just wasted space.

I have just been back into the application and I have started getting session persistence messages on the way in and out! I recall messages about it somewhere.

I'd like to follow up on the Batch Rename issue.
This is a very important part of my job as a digital tech. I have to rename raw files to the conventions used by many different photographers. In version 3 Pro i was able to select the number of digits and the start number for the counter. It appears this function is not available in V4 Pro?

Delete the space at the end of the job name 😉

Actually it is not 1 but 2 spaces! And you cannot remove them unless you go in and do a rename indvidually.

4.5 is BAD joke for people dealing with more than a trivial number of images.

If I choose batch rename, enter a job name with no space at the end, there will be no space between the name and the number.

It was with great expectation that we downloaded and installed the latest version of C1Pro 4.5, as the processed image quality from C1 has always been superior to any other Raw image applications that we have used.

The ability to output DNG files for our archive system is great, and to use our new Canon 1DS MkIII tethered is great. The extra Lens correction facilties is also a good one.

We are disappointed and puzzled that the IPTC data is no longer available to us. IPTC metadata is essential to our current workflow. Now we shall need to cotinue using Bridge for all metadata once the the images has been processed the C1Pro.

We also agree that the dark application interface is draining on the eyes as compared to the grey style.

Looking forward to the next release, where all of the issues will be addressed.
