contax 645 viewfinder mask and planes of focus?

the Contax 645 viewfinder mask (for P45) appears to lift the focusing screen by the thickness of the mask - is this right to do that ? does it offset the backs focal plane distance being different from a film back?

or am I mounting it wrong? thanks.

    If it lifts the screen that is definitely not right and will have huge effect on the focal plane of the DB. Did you pull off the cover paper of the mask? Too, you should check the size of the 4 notches... maybe you have to cut them a little bit so that mask lies on the screen mounting bridge without beeing tilted.
