What is the purpose of ...
What is the purpose of the xmp sidecar files that can be configured in C1? I have looked at them (they are just xml files) and they seem to contain only some exif information and no adjustment data. If the files only contain exif data, what is the purpose of creating them? Why would someone have them turned on rather than just leave them turned off?
Thanks.
Thanks.

In case you have not seen the basic technical explanation.
For use cases .... I'll leave that to someone else who has a regular purpose for XMP based information sharing.

Hi
The XMP sidecar files are useful if you need to share metadata information between Capture One and another application, eg. Photomechanic. If you configure CO to do full sync to XMP files, you can do rating and keywording in Photomechanic and post-processing in CO. And that without moving or re-importing files. Just change rating in Photomechanic and your changes will show up in Capture One at the speed of light 😊
Ciao, ciao

Thank you.
At first I thought it might be something similar to the Dxo dop files which contain the current setting adjustments and can be used (or removed) to save (or discard) the current settings. It removes the need for a separate catalog.
Since it is nothing of the sort I will just turn it off. Thank you.0
