Did you notice "Publication Date: March 31, 2014"? I Guess we'll have to wait...

"Capture One Pro 7: The Official Guide" by Michael Corsentino was going to be released today acording to Amazon about a month ago. Now it is nowhere to be found on Amazon. I called the publisher, Wiley: The telephone representative said the book was canceled. This is unfortunate, I really did want to read it.

Yes I heard this as well. Really disappointing. I know we have videos and plenty of online material but personally speaking there is no substitute for having a reference book.

My guess is C1P8 is on the horizon so they put the book on hold and will include new material specific to 8.

My guess is that there's just not that big a market for a book on Capture One - and I'm willing to bet that 8 doesn't differ from 7 so much that it would be worth stopping a print run for.

Waterstones in the UK specifically describes publication as having been abandoned - that's not a postponement, and - knowing Waterstones - I'm sure it's a deliberately-chosen form of words.

Or - given that the last post on Michael Corsentino's Facebook was October 2013 (and the last by him a year earlier?) - maybe he's out of the loop himself.

Possibly. The lack of non official YouTube videos would suggest that may be the case. If they're hoping to claw away Lightroom users then a decent book would be a good start.

I prefer a book to videos myself (I hate video tutorials with an unbridled passion - give me words every time) but I'm honestly not sure that any converter (even one with DAM capabilities) is so complicated that it warrants a book.

I've found C1 to be the most intuitive Raw converter I've ever used so far. I never felt that about Lightroom, even after 18 months of solid use. Well, the Develop side I knew like the back of my hand but everything else was so convuluted that a book was a necessity. I didn't find the DAM side of things at all easy to grasp. Maybe that's why we see so many Lightroom books!

I take it you haven't forked out for the Luminous Landscape videos? 😂

    You are correct, sir!

    😉

I haven't watched a single one of Phase One's own videos either.

I know what you mean about Lr - still a keen user myself, have been for years - and I bought Victoria Bampton's "The Missing FAQ" e-book back in Lr 3 days, buying updates for Lr 4 and Lr 5.

And still I haven't read it! After all this time I think I've dipped into it maybe half a dozen times. But it's a good format for a guide on using software.

Even so, I prefer a well-written "native" user guide from the software authors themselves: and although the Capture One user guide is far from perfect, it's done the job well enough for me, and as tutorials go, these are far more to my taste than videos.

Well I've converted the C1P7 manual to MOBI format so I can read it on my Kindle. PDF conversions to ereader formats are never great but it's better than nothing.

The Phase One videos aren't bad but they're frustratingly short. Some of the hour long Webinars are pretty good.

I have Martin Evening's Lightroom 4 book. A really good resource. Victoria is very good. Always quick to answer questions on forums.
