Did you know, the top-most color correction mask wins?
I was trying to modify colors in two different layers, both covering the same area (same would be true for overlapping areas).
The mask in the top layer nullifies any color correction in the lower layer, even if the top layer does not correct any value (hue, saturation, lum.) and even if it picks another color range. Good to know the limitations...

EDIT: But this can be an advantage, e.g. if you mask smaller areas on an existing mask, e.g. flowers on a lawn, you can start from scratch for the flowers' mask ...
