Keyboard shortcut for External editors

    Hi,

If you are using a Mac (>=10.5, I think), you can use the 'Application Shortcuts' under Keyboard Shortcuts in the Keyboard Preference Pane in System Preferences. Then, just assign the helper app's sub-menu name (usually just its name) under Media Pro's 'Action/Open with...' menu to a shortcut in the 'Application Shortcuts.'

(Just tested this and can now render a 'media' view way faster than MP and on a different screen using Preview.app via a keyboard shortcut. Way cool, thanks.)

You can also use the system 'Application Shortcuts' to override shortcuts in program's that refuse to use conventional shortcuts for things like Page Setup, etc.

You can also use third-party utilities to do the same thing on the Mac (Quickeys, etc.). Quickeys can also send the Preview.app window to a different display. Not familiar same setups on Win boxes, sorry.

For anyone interested in how I made the external preview show in another display, via QuicKeys v.4 (note, my second display is spun to portrait orientation):

You can add a last step to return focus to Media Pro, if desired.

Thanks Larry, Although I am on Win 7. I do have a G15 keyboard that allows macro with program keys. It also allows scripts.

I thought there might be something within MPro.
