Can't make adjustments

I just bought Capture One v 3.7. I'm using it with Windows XP. I managed to install, and get images from my memory card. However, when I go to adjust using whitepoint, exposure, etc., nothing happens to the image in the preview window, and I do not get any previews in the adjustment windows. I have searched everywhere for an answer, but can't find one. I'm sure there is something I'm just not doing, but please help...

  Pat,
  
  Sounds as though your images are still on your CF card. Images should be downloaded to the default location of your local hard drive:
  C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One PRO\\Captures\\Your Session folders fo RAW images
  
  You can then Browse to this Folder and Add to permanent collection and then all your Thumbnail and Preview images will be created. Any image adjustments get written to the Thumbnail or Work files for a Session.

  Just a thought Pat but you are only trying to adjust RAW files and not jpg arent you?

  kc and Dave...thanks...yes, dumb mistake #1..I was trying to adjust a jpeg...thanks for the input, problem solved!
