MICROSOFT WARNING

We have chosen not to participate in the program as it is of little benefit when all is said and done.

The message refers to the Phase One back driver only. All the drivers are perfectly safe to install.

Thank you James for your quick reply. I thought it may have been yet another money grabbing exercise by Microsoft but, when it comes to the safety of my machine or that of other users I always feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

You mention that the message refers to the "Phase One Driver only" but I can assure you that it is popping up on "Capture One" as well.

The drivers for Phase One backs and Leaf camera backs are a part of the Capture One application.

Not to worry. This "warning" pops up a lot, even with "mainstream" programs. Just blow by it. No big deal at all. I suspect that it has something to do with a license issue rather than a compatability issue. I only use custom built PC's and have NEVER had any issues with programs that present this message during software downloads or setups. If you max the RAM for your motherboard, use external hard drives for everything, keep your "C" drive clean and defragged, stay current on the hardware and the software and ONLY load software that you have purchased from known dealers or sites... and that you absolutely need on your machines... you will never have any conflict issues. If you don't need it, don't load it. If you didn't pay for it, don't load it.

Thank you for your response to my question. I have come across these "warnings" in the past but, I do like to make sure of my facts before I load any program into my computer. One thing that I do is a regular clean and defrag of my C Drive. As I have plenty of Ram left that in its self isn't a problem but I am adding a couple of external hard drives so that I can back up my work...just in case something happens 😕

I know people who download "Pirate" copies of programs (with keygens) to their machines and then wonder why they are having problems. It is only a personal decision but I would rather pay for a genuine copy of a program, when I can afford it, than risk having virus or some other bug piggy back its way into my machine. Having said that, I feel that some programs offered by other companies ( and I'll use photoshop as an example here) price themself out of the reach of the normal amature photographer and end up with many people downloading these "Pirate" copies in an attempt to advance their photography.
I'm sorry I got off the track there but it is something that I have seen happen time and time again and it is simply bad business practise. I was always taught make a small initial profit and have a larger turnover and, in the end, you will make more profit.

OK I'll climb down off my soap box for now and once again thank you for all of your help and prompt replies.
