We are headed in that direction as well. I would be happy to share information. #issue is finding a good applescript developer.

we have started the development of a kind of CaptureOne plugin that reads the barcode that is pictured on the edge of a processed image and renames the file to the data in the barcode and adds the original raw filename to the description metadata. its suited more to flatly type shoots that will have the product clipped of the background.

Its early in the dev process but the prototype is working feel free to contact me for more info.

We also have a app that when a barcode is scanned into it adds the data to CaptureOnes next capture naming and adds the data to a shot list excel document.

Most USB bar code readers read the text and input the data wherever your cursor is. If you put your cursor into the "name" field in the Next Capture Naming tool (and have format set to the "Name" token) you can scan the codes into CO and name the images based on the bar code upon capture.

FWIW, we've started using a piece of software called Smart Shooter which controls the camera(s), and will read a barcode/qr code in an image, rename the file, and then we get the RAW in Capture One and continue our workflow from there.

That plugin sounds amazing. I would be interested to hear more and help test it.
