Camera orientation for DSLR-Where did it go?!
Why am I not able to set the camera orientation manually, through the camera menu, anymore like I used to in C1 V3 with my DSLR (Nikon D3s)? I'm sick of having to rotate and re-apply my crop to every image that comes in when shooting straight down. Very frustrating when the client is standing right there and we are in a hurry. The menu options are there but they are dimmed out.

When shooting straight down it is likely that the camera is not sure which way is up so the images come in at random orientations. The best way to deal with this is to simply turn the 'Auto Orientation' in the Camera Off and then Capture an image. Adjust the orientation as necessary in Capture One software and then use the "Copy from Last" option in Capture One to allow the remaining captured images to come in under the same orientation.
The other option is to create a Style with the orientation you want and use "Default with Style..."0 -
I have 'auto orientation' off and 'copy from last' selected and the images still don't come in with the rotation I applied to the last one. Basically anytime I'm shooting straight down my images always come in horizontal and I'm almost always shooting to a vertical page format. As far as your suggestion to using 'styles' I have no idea how to set that up and it just sounds ridiculous. Why don't you guys just make the camera orientation option work like it used to and should. 0 -
I completely agree. I don't know why this is so difficult to implement? I've never had an orientation style that worked for more than one session. I've spent way more time messing around with it, than I care to think of. If it was possible before, to ignore the camera orientation data, and then apply a desired rotation to each image within the software, why can't that happen now? 0 -
PhaseOne.....it would be nice to get a REAL solution reply to this issue. 0 -

If you would like to create a support case and address it to me I can point you in the right direction to solve this with a style.0 -
Drew! Come on, the orientation command worked before in previous versions, it shouldn't be so hard to do this. 0 -

Are you referring to the Capture One versions that existed prior to Canon and Nikon releasing the new type of SDK? 😉0
