Profile Problems
I am attempting to process D1X NEF files shot by someone else in C1 PRO 3.5.2. He has edited the files in either Nikon View or Nikon Capture. When the raw image thumbnails first load into the C1 PRO browser they appear to have a decent, natural colour balance. Within a few seconds C1 applies a profile to the files which renders them over saturated. I am using the Nikon D1X generic V2 ICC profile and my working space is Adobe RGB (1998). Is there a way to turn off the C1 profile so that I can maintain the original look of the files? What am I missing?
Thanks,

Ken,
There is a pop-up menu in the color balance panel for selecting an ICC profile. It sounds to me like your generic Nikon profile isn't well suited for your images. In fact, given that your colors are over-saturated, it seems as though you need a workspace with a larger color range such as Adobe RGB (although this may not be a good choice). I don't believe you can simply turn off a profile. My advice is to experiment with different profiles in the pop-up menu until you get one that's a good starting point. Regardless of what you start with, you can always convert to your Adobe RGB workspace as you process.

A correction:
I got it backwards. When applying a profile to raw data a smaller gamut colorspace will display less saturated colors. Try sRGB as a likely starting point.
