Its not a great idea to partition hard discs on Macs, if poss I would re configure your HD's but this would mean erasing them and re- installing everything.

p.s. Or buy an external HD

    Hans,

I have the same drive partition setup on my Mac laptop and it has worked flawlessy with Capture One. It seems like a program is not clearing the program cache after quitting. It may be CO, but it might also be another program (Photoshop had this problem about a year ago). Let's check a few things:

Which version of 10.4 are you using? The latest = v10.4.2
Have you run the Disk Utility and repaired permissions?
Have you done a \"fsck\" in single user mode to maintain the boot drive directory?
Do you run any 3rd party system utilities? (such as Cocktail, Onyx, etc.)
      Do you use Disk Warrior?
In CO, are you sure your preferences indicate writing the image data to your data partition?
What other programs do you use that are memory intesive? (Photoshop, Final Cut, etc.)

At the very least, you will need to perform system maintenance to free up the disk space. I don't think CO is the culprit becuase I'm doing what you are doing and my drive space is fine.

OSX needs lots and lots of free HD space to do its work. The new recommendations for free HD space of about 50%.

It is also not a good idea to store data on a boot drive, therefore, I do not partition. Drive maintanance is much easier on a boot drive with no partitions, and no data. Use a second drive for data.

The reason you found some success by when you turn off and reboot, the OS runs routines to clean out any temp files that are still left on the HD from before. Keeping data on another drive also eliminates the competition for free HD space.

For my PB, I have a Seagate Momentus 100GB 5400 RPM drive installed. It is not partitioned. My apps and stuff take up about 25GB (Shame on me. 10GB of that is iTunes music -data!) I use an external FW800 7200RPM 250 GB drive for data. If I am in the weeds away from A/C, then I will make due with my boot for everything, but then immediatley move data off it as soon as I can.

    I have a similar issue.

    I'm on Capture One 3.7.1

    OS 10.4.2

    Powerbook G4

    2 gig of memory

I have an external Lacie hard drive.

If I have a session on the external drive and try and process out some images, I get the following error:

    http://www.pbase.com/bskeie/image/47553021.jpg

There is over 150 gig of free space on this drive.

I've tried using different external devices and have the same result.

Any more ideas to check would be greatly appreciated!

A macuser for more then 10 years; always had 2 partitions on my internal drive, one for the system and apps and the other just for data. Never had any problems. Just since the upgrade to C1 3.7, it dosn't happen with other apps.

    Hans,

Have you run any disk or directory utilities?

    Hans,

So, to make it clear, this is what happens:

    1) System & applications on one disk partition
    2) Data on second partition
    3) There are only two partitions on your hardrive
    4) You are using Mac OS v10.4.2 on all computers
    5) Capture One v3.7.1 on all computers
    6) After importing 'X' GB of images from a memory card, Capture One indicates that your system partition has run out of space
    7) You've run the fsck command in single user mode to verify that the boot drive partition file system has no errors.

    Here are more questions:
    1) How much disk space is on your boot partition?
    2) How much disk space is on your data partition?
    3) How many gigabytes are you importing from a memory card?
    4) All Capture One sessions are set up on your data partition?

Be absolutely sure the Process to location allows User Read/Write Permissions.

Another possible cause is a corrupted Batch Job .plist file.
Please follow these steps to rectify the problem.

    •Quit C1.
•Open the Home Account folder located in the Users folder. Then navigate to Library/Application Support/Phase One.
•If you are using Capture One 3.5 inside the Phase One folder you will find the Batch Job Folder. In version 3.6 the folder is called Batch Queue. Open up the folder and move all the files you find inside to Trash folder.

    Restart Capture One.

If it does not restart as expected navigate back to the Batch Job / Batch Queue folder as above and move the entire folder to the Trash. Restart the software again. It should work properly now.

If Problem persist, please Create a Support Case:

    Sincerely,
    kdc

    Keith,

I was rooting around in my computer tonight and noticed the mount points for my hard disks are different for my external devices than my internal devices.

Here is a screen grab illustrating this:

    http://upload.pbase.com/bskeie/image/49391830/original.jpg

note the mount point for the external devices is under /volumes/, where the mount point for the internal drive looks as if it may be in a root directory.

Could the volumes have read only permissions for Capture One?

You can also see there is plenty of free space on both of these drives.

With MAC OS Extended, I can process to an external drive:

    With FAT 32, I cannot:

Yes, but look at the file and folder counts for the FAT32 volume: They both show 0 despite some 55gb being used. Clearly there is a system level problem with using FAT32 volumes. I would be very concerned about the integrity of the data on those drives.
